Blair Douglas Associates Ltd. is a technical communications consultancy located in Calgary, Alberta, in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies.

The company is focused on helping our clients to practice good technical communication in a timely and cost-effective manner. Our services are particularly useful to companies that are just adding technical communication to their game plan, or who are increasing their dependence on their existing practitioners. We offer an innovative approach to knowledge transfer, and aim to help our clients to get just what they need, when they need it, looking good and learning in the process.

Company founder and President has been practicing technical communication for more than 20 years, in the telecommunications, data storage management, and petroleum industries. He has worked in many capacities, in large and small publications groups, and in cross-functional project teams; he has tackled TechComm challenges variously as a sole technical writer, documentation team leader, and department manager.

Gordon's technical communications interests are broad, and include project planning and management, technical illustration, process development, document design and typesetting, print production, and the trials and potential rewards of single-sourcing.

Gordon holds a B.Sc. in Geophysics from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), a Diploma of Technology in Engineering Drafting from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (Calgary), and a Certificate of General Management from the University of Calgary. He is a past Vice President of the Alberta Chapter of Society for Technical Communication, and a former member of the Project Management Institute.
